Friend to Friend

Okay, I say it every time I finish a new cake, but I SWEAR UP AND DOWN that this one is my absolute favorite. It's bright, fun and covered in sprinkles.... What's not to love?! Ice cream drip cakes are super trendy these days, and I unintentionally made this on the very last day of summer, which was quite fitting.

While searching for a recipient for my last donation cake, I received a message about an organization called Friend to Friend. They are an advocacy organization for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking. They offer shelter for women and children in the area and help them to get back on their feet.

Please allow me to stand on my soapbox for just a few moments - ADVOCACY IS SO IMPORTANT! And also ridiculously overlooked. I believe in advocacy wholeheartedly, but holy cow, it takes a very special type of person to work in that field. I admire people who are able to work in such heavy environments and be able to leave it in the office at the end of the day - that is a skill that I can only dream of having! I digress...

The employees and volunteers are Friend to Friend are nothing short of incredible and I couldn't even begin to think of a group of people more deserving of a bright, sprinkle covered cake than the women and children at the Friend to Friend shelter, so off it went!

For security reasons, I wasn't able to deliver the cake personally to the shelter, but my whole YEAR was made when I ran into a Friend to Friend employee while I was at work and she was able to tell me about how happy the kiddos were to get such a fun surprise!
