Quarantine happenings...

Hello!!
It's been a while, I know! I hope everyone has been staying safe and well. I haven't been doing much by means of cake donations recently (for obvious reasons), but I've been expanding my charitable efforts in other ways that I'm really excited to tell you about!
As you may or may not know, in addition to baking in my own kitchen, I also work at a bakery full time. I've been fortunate enough to be able to continue working during the pandemic with added precautions to keep me and my fellow bakers safe. A while back I mentioned to my boss that I was fundraising for The Brain Tumor Foundation while training to run my third marathon, and I thought it would be fun to bring my charitable efforts into the bakery. It's definitely a strange and difficult time to be fundraising right now - so many people are dealing with personal financial struggles or they are contributing to other causes that have come into light over the past several months. This has lead me to get a little creative with my efforts. It took some time for me to develop a plan and finalize details, but I finally was able to present an idea to my boss that could benefit all parties - Weekly cake auctions!!

Every Friday for the past 6 weeks I've been auctioning off cakes on our bakery's instagram page. It's been indescribably fun - I've been able to try out new decorating techniques and really run with my imagination while fundraising for a cause that I really, deeply care about. Our customers have really gotten involved and I absolutely adore seeing their reactions to the cake each week!! Not only have these auctions been an absolute blast, but they've been more successful than I ever could have imagined. In six short weeks, we've raised over $1,200 for The Brain Tumor Foundation! I am so thankful to my community for being so supportive, especially during times of uncertainty.

If you would like to follow along or participate in our weekly cake auctions follow C. Cups Cupcakery on instagram. You can place your bids each Friday between 10:30am and 4pm (EST) via direct message. I keep our stories updated in real time throughout the day so you can follow where bidding is at, but don't be shy... you can send us a message and ask, too!
If you live out of town, you can still participate! If you live outside of Moore County and would like to place bids for the sake of fundraising, THANK YOU! If you place the winning bid, I will donate the cake to our local women's shelter or to an organization/charity/cause of your choice. I've had quite a few out of town bidders so far, but none of them have won yet! I would love to see one of these beautiful cakes donated to a local organization navigating through these unprecedented times.
Additionally, if you would like to donate to my fundraiser, but maybe not follow an auction all day, you can donate here. Thank you so much for your generosity!
Stay well,
Emma
